This seems to be related to the altered state of consciousness or disinhibition produced by the drug.

In Brown's case, he said he had tried every drug from heroin to crack and was so shaken by terrifying hallucinations that he wrote one Mississippi paper urging people to stay away from the advertised bath salts.

I was joking with the wife about the Versed drug being synthesized from the Haiti stuff and she received a message connecting the new GMO mosquitoes to this zombie ruckus. While the Tetrodotoxin-Mizadolam link was easy to see, the only link I could find with the modified mosquitoes was a bacteria.

Still, the "zombie" technique being used to keep you docile and agreeable during surgical procedures is funny.

A new mother has been charged with smoking the powerful synthetic stimulant known as bath salts two days after she gave birth, while still in the maternity ward of a central Pennsylvania hospital.
Online court records don't list an attorney for 31-year-old Carla Murphy, of Altoona, who is charged with aggravated assault and various drug counts for allegedly stripping naked and fighting with staff at the Altoona Regional Hospital on June 17. She faces a preliminary hearing Aug. 8.

OMG versed is some scary s@#%! Your timing is uncanny, Pickle. Just a couple of weeks ago my son had to have some dental work done and they wanted to give him versed.

Naturally I researched it beforehand, even though the doc said it was no big deal. Well HORRORS!!! I was appalled at what I found!

Most people probably do fine with it but the people on this forum posted their horror stories - 15 pages' worth of horror stories!

This stuff sounds like a bad acid trip!

Needless to say my son opted for a local painkiller only. At first the dentist didn't want to do it because he's so accustomed to always sedating his patients, but we insisted. (And he put it in writing too that he didn't want versed.)

It all turned out ok, but I'm so relieved that I found the discussion forum about it, and avoided a potential bad experience. Wow, some of those stories are really creepy! And to think they give this stuff to children and even babies too!!! (shudder)

Did you read any of those accounts posted in that forum I linked? some of those people were fully conscious, and disassociated, some to the point of thinking they were dead, and remembered it! Some even felt the pain too but were powerless to communicate anything to the doc. Some felt violated afterwards, and even suicidal, for weeks or months afterwards. Bad acid trip!!

My wife and I stopped at a local drive thru and picked up a couple of soft drinks and onion rings (not a healthy day...but good one, nonetheless, lol).

Over at the outside tables is group of high school kids. Now when I was that age, if there was a table like that, we'd have been loud and boisterous and extremely talkative.

All these kids this time (7 of them) had their heads buried in their phones. No one, apparently, speaking to each other except to look up and grunt.

Oh well....thats the way things are these days I guess.

Young women dazed, restrained in hospital beds, acting possessed and then becoming catatonic. They’d been so normal, when suddenly their lives went haywire.

“One minute I’d be sobbing, crying hysterically, and the next minute I’d be laughing, said Susannah Cahalan, of New Jersey.

“I was very paranoid and manic. There was something wrong. I thought trucks were following me,” said Emily Gavigan, of Pennsylvania.

And it got worse for Emily Gavigan, who was a sophomore at the University of Scranton. Hospitalized, and out of it, she couldn’t control her arm movements. Then there were seizures, and she needed a ventilator. Her parents were watching their only child slip away.

“It was life and death for weeks,” said Grace Gavigan, Emily’s mom.

“We were losing her. This is something that I couldn’t control,” said Bill Gavigan, Emily’s dad.

Doctors also couldn’t figure out what was wrong with Susannah.

“I had bizarre abnormal movements, would leave my arms out extended, you know, in front of me. I was a relatively normal person, then the next minute I’m hallucinating and insisting that my father had kidnapped me,” said Susannah.

Turns out, Susannah and Emily weren’t mentally ill. They both had an auto immune disease called Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis, when antibodies attack the brain, causing swelling.

Susannah says this is how doctors explained it to her parents, “He told them her brain is on fire. He used those words: ‘Her brain is on fire.’”

Zombie alert broadcast on US TV by hackers

Hackers have interrupted a US television channel's regular programming to announce that dead bodies are "attacking the living".

The Montana Television Network says hackers broke into the Emergency Alert System of Great Falls affiliate KRTV and its CW station on Monday.

KRTV says on its website the hackers broadcast a warning that "dead bodies are rising from their graves and attacking the living" in several Montana counties.

The alert, which was broadcast over The Steve Wilkos show, urged viewers not to approach the bodies because "they are considered extremely dangerous".

The message was quickly removed and KRTV broadcast an apology.

The network says there is no emergency and its engineers are investigating.

I was reading about this yesterday and was thinking about posting it here, but I'm not really sure where the "zombie" thing comes into play. The way I understand it this process is being used to make copies of cells that can be kept for analysis indefinitely as well as creating silicate copies of cellular structures for use in nano-scale application. Seems like an interesting step towards developing medical nanotechnology, but I don't see the zombie connection
