If there were simple answers to the great awakening, people could just read a book like the Law of One, and they would be upgraded to enlightened sage/master right away. But things are just a tad more complicated than that.
Do you know why certain cultures have a tradition of welcoming strangers (of not even similar social classes) into their homes as a guest of honor? Because the ancient ascetics and orders used to run these smurf (pretending not to be of high status, kings pretending to be beggars, etc etc) ops to test people and see what is really going on.
You would not be able to perceive who is a master or who the novice was, because they both looked exactly the same, except perhaps the master user was more cantakerous, arrogant, or abrasive. Why do they act like that? Because they are testing you. Because if they just told you the answers, you would just be copy catting the answers like copying someone else's test answers. But you get less confused the more "right" answers you get. For example, if you had chosen the wrong answer and ignored your intuition, what would have happened if you went with the logic of the world as taught to you? If you had chosen your "right not to know" and began doubting or arguing or using logic to find problems with people's offer, would you be where you are right now? Or would the universe have closed the door off in many ways?
