karma, as a concept, just means that we experience the consequences of our thoughts and actions.
if we act on the principle of separation, then we will experience a reality where there are elements of separation.
there is also a type of karma which is based on trauma, and holding onto the memories of trauma. That strong emotional hold (usually based on low vibrational emotions like fear and anger) serves to recreate the conditions of the original trauma.
