To me the Holy Spirit is synonymous with Intelligent Energy as described in the Ra material. In the Bible the Holy Spirit allows for a conduit between through which one can access the wisdom of God.

edit: I like cyan's answer. It makes me think. I could also see the holy spirit as a collection of positively oriented thought forms collectively generated by members of the church.
