I'm taking ibuprofen daily in order to relieve from all the pain and headache. It helps me sleep calmly. I think I'm addicted to it. I don't get sleep when I'm not taking ibuprofen. What am I supposed to do? One of my friends suggested undergoing addiction counseling from a clinic in Vancouver. Will this be of any help? Is there a way to stop my addiction? Any tips are highly appreciated. Thanks!!
Hi Denise,
ibuprofen is not considered an addictive chemical and it is unlikely that you have developed any addiction to ibuprofen beyond a simple psychological habit. The only alternative to this would be if the ibuprofen you are taking contains codeine, which is a weak opiate and does indeed create a physical dependence in the user after prolonged use.
More worrying than the addiction, and in my humble opinion, much more in need of treatment, is what appears to be a chronic headache/pain which you are experiencing. Perhaps if you share more details about your lifestyle and your affliction, we could get to the root cause of this issue. I'm sure that one of the helpful people on this forum will have some experience and some advice to give.
Peace be with you.
