I can relate to your feelings about food. For me as well, this is far from being fearful. I realize that I am an infinite being and have dissolved any fear of death or illness. I do, however, have a very strong feeling from the core of my being that the choices I make regarding food are of utmost importance right now.
I have gone from someone who would be hard pressed to figure out how to cook a grilled cheese sandwich to preparing almost all of my meals from scratch. I enjoy every step from working in the garden or at the farm down the road, to making homemade yogurt. What I eat has to intuitively 'feel' right both before and after eating it, and I adjust my diet accordingly. Normally these questions have to be answered: 1) where did the food come from? Was it harvested in harmony with nature and with the plant or animal involved in making it? (this automatically weeds out the stuff with pesticides, hormones, gmo, etc.) 2) Is this something my body needs and can make efficient use of right now? 3) How do I feel, physically and energetically, before and after eating it?
Would there be a point in eating the most nutritious, expensive, certified organic superfood if I did not need to eat it at that time? If I did not need to, but did anyway, that would be a disservice to someone who does need it, and also in my mind disrespectful to the animal or plant that just died. This is why I feel it is so important to have open communication with your body, mind, and spirit at any given time. Body can and will tell you what it needs, if you listen. Mind can interpret these needs and help the body find the appropriate foodstuff to satisfy them. Spirit provides abundance of what you need, and links you to the food you are eating. Let it know how thankful and respectful you are, that it may continue to provide and so you may be at peace with the animals/plants.
I do personally believe that the most important choice is not what to eat, but how we go about doing so.
