Now that you mention it, I see that same effect in darkness, but it consists of the colors red and blue.
The colors red and blue flash back and forth in an almost indistinguishable and random manner (almost as if they were mixed) and get "sucked in", then darkness sets in and the whole process starts again. This occurs most of time when I fix my eyesight to look forward. I just stare with little effort and it appears. It covers the majority of the center of my eyesight.
About the "fireball" phenomenon, I've also been seeing this blue dot of "light" in front of me at somewhat random times. It's quite vibrant and appears in different parts of my eyesight.
I'm not so sure if one, both, or none of these happenings are cause because of standing in front of a computer monitor for hours a day. I hope it's a good sign
