Karl I so agree. Even toward my dog whom I love more than anything, I haven't shown unconditional love. He growled at me one day and I popped him on his snout, causing him to cower down and whimper. If I had unconditional love, it would not have upset me one way or the other. If I can't show unconditional love towards him, I can't show it towards another.
My mom makes me get angry thoughts sometimes with her immaturity, but I don't smack her, so maybe there's a speck of unconditional love there. But if unconditional love is how you feel inwardly, then I've failed there too.
