Nobody mentions that, natural medicines not withstanding, the average life expectancy of someone 2000 yrs ago was less than 30.

We can make that "lifestyle" choice today. Knowing full well we have modern medicine to fall back on if natural remedies don't work. Which they don't always in cases of full blown sepsis, pneumonia or even something like flu.
