Maybe the drugs aren't the real issue. Maybe you're using the drugs to create an issue to distract you from your real problem.

And of course I could be completely wrong. I'm not you so this is only guess work.

I use alcohol extensively to avoid my issues, I know I do this but I continue to do it. I've hid from my problems so long I have next to no idea what they are. So my alcoholism is the symptom of a deeper problem, not the original problem itself. Hope this is of some use to you.
