RE: Astrology - Meerie - 10-12-2011

For whatever reason I tend to think of MC and north node as alike. (maybe because my MC is conjunct my north node)
do you guys agree? both are about where we are going in life, where our goals are.

Hello Meerie!

I agree that there are similarities, but i see the MC more related to tangible 3D issues like civil status, what job you occupy and interests you have as for the Nodes they are karmically coloured; the SN describing situations and emotional issues you are carrying from former lifetimes, positive or negative and the NN how you should strive to free youself from old negative patterns along the new paths you're walking.

RE: Astrology - Meerie - 10-12-2011

Yes right. but both represent some kind of goal, don't they? (I mean the north node and the MC)
I looked at the chart of a woman who has Uranus conj. her MC and I interpreted it as she feels drawn to eccentric people, out of the ordinary experiences. She said yes, and that the "muggles" often have difficulty with her and they simply don't like her. They view her as eccentric too.

RE: Astrology - 3DMonkey - 10-12-2011

I agree with Transiten.

I've developed a personal opinion about the nodes. The traditional view is to "free yourself" from past life patterns indicated by the SN. I've come to not like that view because it made me feel inadequate when using those old patterns for gain. What I've discovered is that the SN represents what you are good at, and my personal opinion is to use every "weapon" you can in this world; not suppress it.

For instance, Transiten, we may find ourselves successful when we associate with others in high stature. This should be used and embraced rather than avoided as if it were a negative expression.

RE: Astrology - transiten - 10-12-2011

Sure, there are positive traits you carry with you from former lifetimes also but the tendency to "Hang on" to what you're used to even if negative is the tricky part. I have a great book by Jane Spiller "Astrology for the Soul" with many many pages on just having the NN in Aries (like me) or in the 1st (ruled by Aries) and that she interprets in the same way,.

RE: Astrology - Meerie - 10-12-2011

Yeah what does she say about NN in Aquarius (Jan Spiller... name sounds familiar. Maybe I read her book, even)
I found out that I don't like the Leo personalities, boisterous "I like to be center of attention" types, and that is where my SN is. Actually I am also bit uncomfortable when for some reason I find myself in the limelight... wierd. It should be more familiar with Leo SN, right? But that may be colored by my pisces personality. Maybe an aries with southnode in Leo will be able to relate to it more easily.

I have New Moon Astrology. She devotes an entire section to NNs. Of course, I've gone through and noted which parts I believe should be placed with the sign placement and which should be placed with the house placement. Wink

"...Learning to quiet an overactive mind"

" ... to embrace life as an adventure"

I can plagiarize via PM, if you'd like Wink

Hello, have to go....visiting my father in NorrtÀlje. Back in one week!

RE: Astrology - Ruth - 10-12-2011

Safe journey, transiten!

RE: Astrology - Namaste - 10-12-2011

Hello astro friends.

Is there a certain book, or website, that one can get hold of that gives a good basic understanding of astrology? Not the usual zodiac stuff, that can be found in abundance, more so, the effect of planetary positions/cycles, including one's birthdate.

RE: Astrology - Meerie - 10-13-2011

I like www.astro.com
you can enter your birthdata and get a short horoscope for free. They are quite good imo.
If you want to read books on the subject I recommend everything by Liz Greene, and Howard Sasportas. However that is best if you have a bit knowledge already.
check your local library or bookshop on books about astrology. To understand the basic principles, how the aspects work etc. There are many books on the subject (I could not give you an exact title now, but anything that is called "introduction into astrology" will give you a basic overview and will do as a start)
Edit: I just saw astro.com also offers an introduction, and overview into the houses and aspects, etc.
http://www.astro.com/astrology/in_intro_e.htm
As I said, the website is great! Enjoy! Heart

Thanks RuthHeart Back again but rather busy with a mars/plutoconjunction, don't come near BigSmile

RE: Astrology - Meerie - 10-21-2011

I have Mars - square Pluto all the time, so I ain't scared BigSmile
Sister Transiten, I remember when Ankh did not want to be photographed and you said "what? where is your Pluto?"
It still makes me laugh!
could not wanting to be photographed be due to a Pluto in 12th house? or generally speaking, Pluto in 12th brings some tendency toward secretive behavior?
As for Pluto in 1st house it would translate more in the outward world... like people would view someone with Pluto in 1st as agressive or dominant, for example?

Well Meerie since Lana doesn't want to be photographed i don't want to reveal her horoscope either Wink but in this case it's not her Pluto anyway..i just threw that out since Pluto is about control, but also Saturn is about control and Neptune can have a say also concerning photographing....

RE: Astrology - Meerie - 10-21-2011

Ah!!! don't reveal her name please!!! Wink
no but actually I was speaking in general. Not aiming at anybodys horoscope specifically.

RE: Astrology - 3DMonkey - 11-01-2011

One week from today transiting Pluto in Second House will complete its final Square to my natal Sun. (an 18 month long transit that only happens once, if at all, in a lifetime). Same day, transiting Jupiter in Sixth will be Sextile my natal Mars; transiting Mars in Tenth will trine my natal Jupiter.

RE: Astrology - transiten - 11-02-2011

Hmmm 3DM, how have you experienced that Pluto transit? I had Pluto conjoining both my scorp mercury and sun...i was like a powerplant... overdoing it also...

RE: Astrology - 3DMonkey - 11-02-2011

Difficult to say. I expected a fireworks show. Mostly, it's been a sense of worthlessness and a bank account to match with decrease in business.
But then again, that just makes me the average American.

There is more tension and resistance in a square for sure...

RE: Astrology - 3DMonkey - 11-05-2011

Meerie??

RE: Astrology - Meerie - 11-05-2011

Yes? you wanna hear my opinion about squares?

RE: Astrology - 3DMonkey - 11-05-2011

Yes. And all my angles.

RE: Astrology - Meerie - 11-05-2011

Well for a start let's consider this:

Be grateful for your squares! I am sure you have heard of the "curse of the trines" as well, haven't you?

RE: Astrology - reeay - 10-11-2012

Meerie can't see the Bring 4th Chart... small n blurry. Could you post the date etc.? I see some fantastic aspects despite the blurriness BigSmile

Bring 4ths birthday is dec. 25th, 2008, 11:47 AM, Louisville KY.
B4th was born with a Pisces ascendant. The moon is high up close to the MC, in Sagitarrius, squaring Saturn in Virgo. My teacher says this is a psychic mediumistic aspect. Saturn in 7th house, conj. Verte. I guess this could make for some of the quarrels between posters here, since 7th house is the house of relationship and Saturn is supposed to be malefic. Since Verte seems to be something like a "fate" point, going thru these quarrels consciously, transcending them, could be a very beneficial and transforming experience. There is much to be learnt here. (Right now I am thinking of the "forum distortions" thread, for example)
Sun conj Pluto in 10th house... no wonder we have quite a few Plutonic posters here as well, huh, 3D and transiten Big Grin.
Jupiter and Merc. being in 11 house, I would say this forum is a good place to make friends.
We have Venus, Chiron, Neptune, the North node and the point of fortune in house 12th. House 12th is the spiritual house per se and it shows that spirituality and contemplation is very important to the forum.
Uranus in house 1, close to the ascendant. I would interpret it that the unusual, most weird and seemingly paradox experiences can be shared. No one will be offended. The forum attracts unconventional original people.

I'll use Magi orbs (0-3... maybe 4 degrees) and aspects for my interpretation to add to Meerie's. According to the Magis, when Chiron is in harmonious aspect with planets like Venus, Neptune, and Jupiter, it is a highly "lucky" like a cinderella, great time to start something and goals of business/site will work out smoothly or if there are problems, the problems will be smoothed out. Bring 4th forum has Chiron conjunct Neptune (but 4 degrees so a little out of orb) and Chiron quincunx Venus. In it's Heliocentric chart I see Chiron conjunct Neptune. Great, 3 cinderella aspects! I also see Sun conjunct Pluto which is a positively powerful aspect. I think this forum was created on a great day, and (as it shows in the quality of posts and posters) potential for success. Great day to start a website! Ah but there is a Saturn clash... some problem but got to figure out what this is about... will post later.

I haven't added the other astroids yet but just with the usual planets that we usually use, it's bowl shaped (concentrated in 6 consecutive houses) and the planets are all in the southern hemisphere. It reminds me of a bowl that has been poured out... this forum is sorta like a gift that keeps giving. People give/share their knowledge.

I'll add more later.

Wow it's interesting to see where one's planet fits with this chart. lol it's comical.

Thanks Meerie!

RE: Astrology - Spaced - 10-11-2012

I was thinking today about how in Roman times it was treason for anyone to make an astrological chart for the Emperor, and his birthplace and time were state secrets. The idea being that if someone had access to his chart they would be able to glean insights into his decision making process and use that information against him / for their own personal gain. People sure put a lot more stock into astrology back then!

RE: Astrology - reeay - 10-12-2012

True what you say, Spaced. In an STS hand an astrological chart could be used against a person. Also, you could understand what influences a ruler is experiencing in the current moment and use that against him/her (transits).
