Cyanatta, I've been meaning to reply to your posting -- Mme H. is a favourite of mine now in the late phase of our life-careers.
To the French she's always iconically been their Joni Mitchell (mixed more than somewhat with their Lesley Gore -- she of "It's My Party"
and other hits fame).
You ain't the boss o' her:

(That's the type of song that would nowadays need to be covered semi-surrealistically by someone like St. Vincent to bring out the
ancient inner nuances in E-Z Modern Terms.)
Ca. 1966: Cherilyn Sarkisian ("Chér") -- her second hit single, "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)":
Ca. 2007, Annie Clark ("St. Vincent") -- her unreleased Love-'n'-Murder-themed ["I get those two confused!"] fantasia based
on the above song (with a crucial reversal in the storyline as to just who gets bang-banged):
I was going to confect a brilliant introductory musical tribute to Mme H. after seeing a write-up of her & her latest album in the
New York Times a few weeks back*, but this noble aim got lost in the shuffle of operating my transnational sonical-psywar
syndicate** and bar-&-grille, but by an interesting synchronism, out of the blue (hors du bleu), you posted her first hit song
from the early de Gaulle Administration era! (Or, peut être, is it that you read NYT too? I shouldn't; it's mostly an STS-
War-Party propaganda rag fit for bird-cage-lining or fish-wrapping, but the occasional Arts & Sciences bits are often fairly undistorted
and informative.)

She's faced down cancer in the past few years, and naturally (what with simply growing older and wiser in general) has become a
bit philosophical about Life 'n' Love 'n' Death 'n' other such Interesting Topics in her art, quite beautifully & wisely so, in my opinion.
"I sing about death in a symbolic, even positive way..."

Tant De Belles Choises / So Many Beautiful Choices
lyrics by F. Hardy
même s'il me faut lâcher ta main so many beautiful choices
sans pouvoir te dire "à demain" without being able to say "see you tomorrow"
rien ne défera jamais nos liens... nothing will ever undo our bonds ...
même s'il me faut aller plus loin even if I have to go further
couper des ponts, changer de train cut bridges, change trains
l'amour est plus fort que le chagrin... love is stronger than sorrow ...
l''amour qui fait battre nos coeurs the love that makes our hearts beat
va sublimer cette douleur will sublimate this pain
transformer le plomb en or turn lead into gold
tu as tant de belles choses à vivre encore... you have so many beautiful things to live again...
tu verras au bout du tunnel you will see at the end of the tunnel
se dessiner un arc-en-ciel to draw a rainbow
et refleurir les lilas and bloom the lilacs
tu as tant de belles choses devant toi... you have so many beautiful things in front of you ...
même si je veille d'une autre rive even if I watch from another shore
quoi que tu fasses, quoi qu'il t'arrive whatever you do, whatever happens to you
je serai avec toi comme autrefois... I will be with you as before ...
même si tu pars à la dérive even if you are drifting
l'état de grâce, les forces vives the state of grace, the forces of life
reviendront plus vite que tu ne crois... will come back faster than you think ...
dans l'espace qui lie ciel et terre in the space that binds heaven and earth
se cache le plus grand des mystères hides the greatest mystery
comme la brume voilant l'aurore like the haze veiling the dawn
il y a tant de belles choses que tu ignores there are so many beautiful things that you ignore
la foi qui abat les montagnes the faith that abates the mountains
la source blanche dans ton âme the pure spring in your soul
penses-y quand tu t'endors think about it when you fall asleep
l'amour est plus fort que la mort... Love is stronger than death...
dans le temps qui lie ciel et terre in the time that binds heaven and earth
se cache le plus beau des mystères is hiding the most beautiful mysteries
penses-y quand tu t'endors think about it when you fall asleep
l'amour est plus fort que la mort... Love is stronger than death...
Ca. 2018, from her album Personne D'Autre [Nobody Else] -- en Anglais:
I will fly all the way
Just to say I'm home
And I'll try to pretend
I'm not sad then and now
I will fly just to say
It is you you're my home
Think of times that we spent
When we were so in love
I would fight everyday
Just to show you i am strong
And I will try to pretend
That there is nothing wrong
With each day that will pass
I will go in my own way
I just want you to know
How I miss you today
When I feel that the rain
Is turning to a storm
Want to jump on the plane
Back to where you belong
See just how I remain
Deep inside in my soul
Knowing I'm not insane
A little lost and that's all
If I don't stay too long
If I have to go on
Understand that your love
Is what makes me hold on
With each day that will pass
I will go with no fear
I just want you to know
That you'll always be near
