This points to a signal difference between a confessional, doctrinal religion like mainstream Christianity or Islam and a system of religious guidance that brings one to a deeper experience of self. If experiencing the Divinity within your own sacred being is your goal, then of course you must be flexible and accepting, but if you demand others accept your creed, perhaps on pain of death, then you are clearly traveling towards a much different goal, sadly enough.
