Greetings Brothers and Sisters. I post this thread seeking help. I am currently trying to improve my ability to recall dreams. I have started keeping a journal by my bed to write in as I wake up, but this has yet to prove very effective as the memories are still often gone before I can get anything down. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerest gratitude. May the Love of the Creator light your path.

    Jody

A dream diary is a good thing. Another would be to set a strong affirmation to remember before sleeping and to stay in bed for 5 or 10 minutes before getting up to allow the memories of the dream to come back into the conscious mind.

Patience and persistence. In my experience, dream recall starts with little snippets and gradually, over several months, becomes more and more detailed. It helps if, when I wake in the middle of the night, I jot down a few notes about the dream I'm having so that in the morning I can remember it. Also, I find waking up without an alarm and, if possible, without turning my attention immediately to the concerns of the upcoming day really helps me to remember dreams.

I think remembering dreams is a great example of Ra's "courting the maiden" -- the careful wooing of the subconscious by the conscious.

Thank you both for your insight. I will try everything you've suggested. I also think I need to practice patience so that was good advice. My heart is full of Love and my intentions are very pure, but I'm no adept at the practices of meditation or dream recall and I may be trying rush myself in those areas so I can "catch up".

    Thank you both.

When you go to bed, are you exhausted? This can lead to deep sleep and harder recall. I personally find that when I go to bed earlier I'll dream more. If you don't get any results with the above suggestions you could try have an alarm wake you up 2 or 3 times a night. That way you awake directly in the middle of a dream.

interesting. never considered that. I used to remember my dreams, but went through a long period where I was smoking marijuana in unhealthy amounts. (I found it was helpful in a calming manner at times, but the amount I was doing it was abusive) when I was smoking pot I would never remember my dreams. After I stopped getting high all the time, I thought my dreams would just come back to me, but so far they haven't.

My dream recall seems to be random. I usually wake up without an alarm, but I wake up too quickly and don't remember. Or when I do, it fades so quickly.

Just ask to be able to recall dreams.
Many folks do not wish for this because it may cause discomfort.

Dreams are not always on a bed of roses.

If you reallly want it...knock and the door ....

Such an elegant and simple answer. I believe this will work for me. Thank you for your help.
