one of the things I have been pondering just recently is this notion:
* Soul Evolution as an Individual
and
* Soul Evolution as a Group
now, from how Ra describes things, there appears to be a heavy emphasis on Soul Evolution as an Individual. An individuated consciousness, that is.
This seems heavier in the initial stages, and perhaps leans towards group orientation later on.
For one thing, Harvestability from 2d to 3d requires the awakening of a sense of individuality in the animal, such as a pet. It comes to be able to see itself as a personality apart from the group animal/racial consciousness.
Then once we hit 3d, Harvestability for each individual is assessed at some point. The whole society/planet doesn't harvest as a group, but every individual is assessed for their Choice, and their dedication/devotion to that Choice (relative polarization).

When we get to 4d and above, we have the phenomena of social memory complexes, which can be seen as tightly knit societies pooling their collective resources in the seeking of a particular polarity. That doesn't mean it's a Borg or Hive mind; individuality is most definitely present, but they can tap into the collective memory at will, sort of like a google for memories.
4d is definitely a collective experience, 5d, according to Ra can be collective or enjoyed in smaller study groups, and then 6d is a tight melding of individuals.
The Wanderer phenomena further highlights the Individual Soul in all this. Whether 4d, 5d, or 6d, memory complexes, it is an individual Wanderer which chooses to go back to this or that 3d planet. It's the individual who chooses that experience, although Ra also mentions that sometimes the social-memory-complex decides that an understanding is less than perfect for the whole group, and I guess some poor b/stard decides to volunteer to leave the group, and spend a bit of time in Walmart checking out the natives
That sort of sums things up as best I know it from the Cosmology offered by Ra.

I guess the point I wanted to make was that even though we have the presence of individuals, we do not work alone. Not ever, I don't think. Two Wanderers were sent to Venus. Not one.
Don, Carla, and Jim had vastly different backgrounds, and even ages, and yet across the continent of America, they found each other to do their work. They had known each in other lifetimes too.
Reading Journey of Souls by Michael Newton made a big impact on me, because it showed that groups of souls choose to incarnate as groups again and again. As family - mother, father, daughter, son - as friends, as bosses and the office worker. We aren't on this journey alone.
As one looks around, and sees who is prominent in one's life, who one feels a closeness to that is beyond something that is just surface - - - is this person part of my soul group? Did we plan this together?
We evolve as individuals, memory complexes seem to be assessed as a collective, and we have tight bonds to those in our particular soul group.
We evolve, change, learn, laugh, and cry together.
We are not alone here. Ever.
