I recently watched Stranger Things. I very nearly turned it off and decided not to watch it due to the opening scene; I thought it was going to be a super generic monster series.

I decided to give it a chance and was quickly sucked into the plot. I finished the mimi-series and thoroughly enjoyed it; I second anagogy's recommendation as long as you can handle a little horror.

Hilarious! RA tells you what to do with your life even down to whether you watch TV?

Keep in mind that Ra was speaking in the early 1980s. Cable was in its infancy then. Certainly the wide variety of stations did not exist. Frankly, I do not let a 6th density entity that has screwed up almost every contact with Earth in history tell me what to do with my leisure time.

Ra doesn't tell anyone what to do. He has suggestions and opinions. He freely admits that he's not a perfect infallible source of information. He doesn't even claim to be particularly noteworthy as 6D entities go, aside from being one of a handful that's taken an interest in Earth. Nowadays, Q'uo goes so far as to include a similar disclaimer at the start of pretty much every session. You're absolutely free to embrace or reject any aspect of his\their teachings based solely on what resonates with you.

And the idea that TV is can easily become a distraction from spiritual matters is hardly a unique opinion. I'm pretty sure every religion and philosophy has adherents who feel the same.

Anybody else love the Boondocks? Or is it just me?

For people who aren't familiar with it, it generally pokes a lot of fun at racism, and society in general, in a satirical sort of way.

    And its freaking hilarious.

From one of my favorite episodes reminiscent of the exorcist (Uncle Ruckus' character is a parody of "Uncle Tom's Cabin")

"Touch" starring Keifer Sutherland is on Netflix (2 seasons).

It's somewhat formulaic but it revolves around the idea that everything in the universe—events, humans—is connected, and it's recognized through numbers.

Reminds me of the Matrix movies, there is a lot you catch when paying attention. Highly recommend it, so far anyhow.

Westworld was quite a fascinating show. I can't really say much about it without giving away the premise but the development of the characters is amazing

Oh and don't forget that the second season of sense8 should finally be coming next year

Oh and the 2nd season of into the badlands which was a ridiculously awesome post apocalyptic martial arts shows

    About the OA

I started watching and immediately recognized there are certain... esoteric elements to it. Only 3 episodes in. I can't tell if they are just capitalizing on the increase popularity of the "new agey" elements or if it's sincere.

Just finished Dirk Gently's holistic detective agency on Netflix . Awesome! It's about psychics, weird cults, old advanced technology and it's really quirky.

Can confirm that Dirk Gently is very good Smile It seems it is not available on Netflix for our friends in the USA, they have to watch it on BBC America.

Sense8 had a new Christmas episode if people were not aware.
I love the show as it echos some experiences I've had with incarnated soulgroup members.

My pet theory is that's how spiritual unity builds biologically.
Telepathy and oneness starts between most closely resonating soulgoup members because you can't aviod seeing they are you and little by little it expands to the entire population.

I've also rewatched all voyager, community and a few others and am amazed at how concepts of spirituality and personal transformation are hidden amount the most mainstream shows.

A new one I've binged watched is Derks Bentley Holistic detective.
Highly recommend it. It's all about being led by synchronicity and being led by the universe. Kinda awesome as the husband picked it and the name sounded aweful.
    Turned out the oppositeSmile

In my humble opinion is not so simple:

Quote:34.13 Questioner: What is the general overall effect of television on our society with respect to this catalyst?

Ra: I am Ra. Without ignoring the green-ray attempts of many to communicate via this medium such information, truth, and beauty as may be helpful, we must suggest that the sum effect of this gadget is that of distraction and sleep.

I understood this like a "general" effect of the TV. Is truth that the mental state of someone watching TV is like sleeping. But in this setence Ra made it clear that is possible communicate precious informations throught of the TV.

    *************
    Well, I recommend:

Supernatural, Stranger Things, The Oa, Sense8, X-Files, V.

    Peace, love and light.

Speaking of Sense8, they just released a two-hour Holiday Special that's apparently going to bridge the gap between Seasons 1 and 2, since S02 is starting in the Spring. Although I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. (My Netflix queue is absurdly long at the moment...)

Just finished this yesterday.  Definitely an interesting one!

That said - the depictions of violence and dehumanization are some of the most extreme I've ever seen depicted in fictional form.  All for an intended purpose - the show is exposing certain tendencies that could become inflamed given certain technological outcomes.  But absolutely brutal.  Not for the faint hearted.

As you said - there's nothing more than you can add without spoiling things.

I love Anthony Hopkins. It's not often that an actor can make you forget you're watching a movie, they just pull you in. Meryl Streep has the same ability, it's a gift.

The 4th season is about to begin. Its real good if you're into that sort of thing. I consider Nathan Fielder to be the funniest young man alive.
