If you need support, reach out  to your loved ones, people on this forum, or you can call... These helplines offer support and information.

If you are contemplating suicide, homicide, feeling sad, victim of physical or sexual violence, experiencing difficult catalyst, OR, if you know someone who is, call these numbers for support and resources. 

If there is imminent (immediate) danger to yourself and/or others, call your local emergency number. 

If a child is a victim of abuse, call child welfare immediately because they may not be able to help themselves and may need an adult to call for them. As adults we are responsible for the well being of children and elderly, as well as the mentally impaired. Let's watch out for them. You can call and report anonymously in the US (dunno about other countries).

whenever there are newspaper articles published in Australia on depression, or reporting of suicide (Robin Williams for example), at the end of the article is a couple of lines referencing either Beyond Blue or Lifeline (and contact numbers), just in case people start turning their minds to copycat actions, as a result of having those emotions/potentials being triggered by the actual article itself.

I think this is a healthy recognition that we can energize distortions in others, even when the intent of reporting or just talking about something is done in purely an objective and non-emotive fashion.  It's the idea itself which can trigger a line of thinking in the other-self just by being exposed to it.

Blu: Sometimes we are lucky enough to get support and advice from loved ones, in-person and thru things like this forum. There are times when you may not... In some cases, you might want more info bc you fear someone may be suicidal or homicidal, or, someone is being abused and you want to assist but have no clue what to do. That can be stressful. It's just one of many safety nets a person can choose to tap into. Getting support from loved ones is really the best. Not all have that kind of support, esp suicidal people who are socially isolated.

There have been couple of threads on b4th about very sensitive issues and people giving advice based on their personal experiences. As good as those advise may be, we've had arguments about how others should act in crisis (e.g., threads about ongoing child abuse) and there were heated debates. The thread diverted from the OP's request for help and just too many advice, sometimes contrary advice were given. That can be more stressful for person asking for help. When you're in crises it's hard to weigh many options and take in many advice... so helplines could be good resources. I thought these resources can be a bit more straight forward for some. Does that make sense?

Yeah Plenum, events can certainly energize distortions. Most people who call in are probably in contemplation stage without plans. Some are ambivalent and have plans but not at action stage. People who are at action stage will prob likely to follow thru... so if we can help people are contemplation and planning stages to prevent suicide, we can lessen energy, maybe.

Not necessarily. I witnessed a case where it came in waves. Strong "psychological pain" followed by "regret" and love for life. In the end it was one of these tops of a wave when no one was there to hug her or calm her down which ended this incarnation. So maybe there a short term surviving of the storm and a long term support... For the short term I think it doesn't matter what it is, when it helps...

I wouldn't consider suicide because there's too many references to going to a dark place, or a place that is emotionally and psychologically devastating.

But I do think about dying at times. Not sure if that's suicide if I just happen to die while thinking about it.
