Jinn, Djinn and other dark beings

An old friend of mine used to warn me of doing anything with a Jinn. In his customs, they were negative beings who would grant wishes, but then you'd have to do something for the jinn, or else suffer consequences.

They're like an evil genie. They even made a movie about them the wishmaster.

Does anyone here understand their philosophy, and what they're about. And most of all how not to attract the attention of one.

Jinn come in a variety of different forms and can be both benevolent and malicious. There is a belief that actually everyone is given their own personal Jinn when they are born and it is a support kind of like a guardian angel. They are beings of "smokeless fire" and are said to sometimes take many different forms.
