Allergy Shots

I don't know what's different about this year but I am absolutely debilitated by my routine summer time allergies this year. Zyrtec-d has been my go to medication for the passed few years but no amount of OTC meds are helping. I'm currently taking 2 claritin-d 12 hour pills immediately upon waking plus some zyrtec form of eye drops which don't help much. I then take a 24 hour zyrtec around noon, another 12 hour claritin around 5 then another zyrtec before bed.

All of this and it barely does anything but repel the worst symptoms which is an all out nose dripping, eye watering, sneezing fit that renders me useless.

I am basically sequestered in my house unless I absolutely have to leave for work. I just walked out to my car and the minute I was outside caused my eyes to start itching.

Once I get home from work, I do nothing but sit on my couch with the most intense itching in my throat, tissues up my nose and a frozen face cloth over my eyes which is the only comfort for the swelling and itchiness. I wake up with my eyes completely caked over and bags upon bags under my eyes.

I'm generally not one for taking any medication like this but this year has caused me to look in to the allergy shots because this won't go away until late September and I cannot continue like this.

Has anyone had these shots before and did you have a good outcome from them?

I took allergy shots from the ages of 7 to 15, and again from 19 to 22. Frankly I don't think they helped at all...I took them because the doctors told me too.

Your best bet might be to move to a different part of the country.

Meds don't get to the root cause. All they do is suppress the symptoms. Sneezing, runny nose, etc. are the body's way of eliminating toxic substances. Pollen in the air just triggers the release of toxins that had been lying dormant all along.

I've know many people who got relief by eliminating dairy from their diets. But it may take a few months of being dairy-free, to see results, because the body still needs time to clean out all the gooey, gluey mucus that dairy leaves behind (which is a potent breeding ground for toxins).

Also eliminate sodas and drink more water.

I eat so little dairy, that the amount is insignificant.

My diet consists of

2 eggs
1 Tortilla
35oz Chicken
2.5 cups of Sweet potatoes
4 tbs All natural peanut butter
2 scoops whey protein shake
2 gallons (yes gallons) of water a day
Greens first organic vegan powder
70g dextrose

I will every now and again indulge in unhealthy foods but these allergies started while remaining on this very strict diet.

For my sister, Source mentioned that she takes in the most chemicals through her skin. Next is how she eats, then the air (farmland).

Basically the body reacts this way in an attempt to tell you to stop doing something to it.

Yea but wouldn't that mean that I would also exhibit these allergies throughout the year from another allergen in the air? My allergies only occur June-September. Like clockwork when the Bahia grass we have down here start sprouting their v-shaped pollen and seeds, my allergies start.

My intake of the PB hasn't been as consistent as I would have liked and I only started a couple weeks ago but I'll forego it for a while to see if that's it.

If I'm at the beach, I have no symptoms whatsoever. As long as I'm away from grass, I'm ok which is basically impossible except at the beach lol

White flour (tortilla) also contribute to mucousy conditions.

Conventional eggs are a common allergen. Try switching to organic, free-range eggs. They're much healthier (for both you and the chickens!).

If your peanuts aren't organic, that could be part of the problem too. Conventional peanuts are grown in the same soil as cotton. Pesticides are used on cotton that are banned for food crops, but they remain in the soil, so when the peanuts are grown, they have high levels of toxic residues. Peanuts are among the 'dirtiest' foods, in terms of pesticide residue. Peanuts are highly nutritious foods, but it's important to buy them organic. You might also try Jungle Peanuts, which are ultra awesome!

Not necessarily. People think pollen is the culprit, but actually, pollen is our friend! Pollen's job is to trigger a detoxification process in the body. If the body is clean, the person won't react to pollen. A reaction only occurs if there is some toxin accumulated in the cells. The pollen releases it so it can be cleansed out of the cells.

Pollen isn't the bad guy; it's just the messenger. What a wonderful gift the flowers give us, at certain times of the year! When the pollen is in the air, it's time for cleaning house!

My guess is that it's likely a combination of various factors. The whey is probably the biggest culprit. You might try switching to a vegan protein powder. The best one I've found is: Sunwarrior Warrior Blend Raw Gluten Free Protein though it's currently out of stock everywhere, unfortunately. It's really good stuff and tastes great too!

Another good one is: Garden of Life RAW Organic Protein.

I do know the eggs I get are all natrural as I only buy the natures harmony brand where the chickens are fed an all veggie diet with no hormones or steroids

I don't think you need to quit the peanut butter. Peanuts are a great protein source. I'm just suggesting that you switch to organic peanut butter.

My understanding is that the pollen is just triggering a cleansing of toxins, and toxins love bodies that are fed dairy. It's a yummy, hospitable environment for them.

Because that's the task of pollen...to trigger a housecleaning. The toxins were there all along but they just got stirred up by the pollen.

Colds in winter do the same thing.

I had some huge pollen issues when I was younger and in latter years they've subsided quite alot. I have not changed much in what medications I take but am better at taking them 2-3 weeks BEFORE pollen season starts which helps your body build a buffer of anti-histamine to combat shocks.

The main ingredient to lessening the effect is medicational smoking.
If my nose runs and no amount of spray or pills or gooing up papers helps then I smoke and voilá, it helps.

Only recommended for adults who know wtf they're doing, though =). May not help everyone, also.

Smoking what exactly? I unfortunately already smoke cigs but if you're taking about other, finer, more organic type of smoking then that would be great but not exactly conducive to doing prior to work when I xraying patients lol

Smoke in general should help somewhat. However, cannaboids are notorious for relaxing and making organs go less haywire thus less hayfever, really. Medicate only outside work =P

Cookies could work but I have no experience with long term use. I also assume the smoke chills out receptors in nose/throat, lessening the onset of mucus/goo.

Immunotherapy works best when injected directly into a lymph node under ultrasound guidance. Find a doctor who knows how to do it properly and you should be symptom free for 3 years.

Peanut butter is not as healthy as the other nut butters available. I do not eat peanuts.

Pretty much all people are allergic to wheat gluten to some extent or another. Not only do many of the nutritionists know this, but it regularly comes through in sessions as well. Gluten is enough to cause all sorts of allergy symptoms to manifest, and almost always sneaks past allopathic doctors.
