when my world was filled with darkness,

then i stopped dreaming
now im supposed to fill it up with something,

if the point of this journey was to get me

compassion, love , impatience ,

hatred, longing, lust, holiness.

that is my experience and that is what i know

there is a wave of love that one can learn to ride

when you greet each moment with a heart that's open wide


feelings are like underground rivers of the soul

where they meet the body, mind and spirit become whole

each emotion is a facet of the jewel we are

we each contain the potential to shine just like a star

if one magical morn we woke up as the human race

and each one of us really and truly cared more about

the welfare of each other than anything else in this life

overnight

all wars and conflicts on this planet would end.

all poverty and lack would be seen as unacceptable

and programs would be started immediately to end

these horrors .

all exploitation of the enviornment would come to an end

and the human family

would join together in an absolute orgasm of love

with tears streaming down our faces

as finally finally finally we realized

after so many millenia

the good gene


i was lying down in bed on late christmas eve

so nice and snug when what did i receive

something was tapping tapping on my heart

i was about to add a new part

so i looked up cause i wanted to see

what was this thing being added to me

what was about to enter my heart

what was suddenly going to be a part

why the good gene was tapping at my hearts door

the good gene wanted to become so much more

good gene i said please set me free

good gene please become a part of me

so the good gene entered and went to my head

as i was lying there so snug in my bed

all of a sudden my thoughts were so pure

good gene i said u done gave me the cure

the good gene laughed and gave me a smile

she gave me a hug and then all the while

the good gene moved on down to my heart

the good gene now had become a part

well let me tell u the feeling cant be described

all i can say was it made me so alive

i became so happy and loyal and true

good gene i said cant get enuf of u

so good gene thanks u for what u have done

for entering my head and heart and making us one

for giving me a chance to express more love

for giving me a shot to rise above

i think this year is going to be a real suprise

as the good gene enters and makes us more alive

if you don't want to suffer then release attachment to your face

i am not in control...freedom reigns supreme
the sun will rise and set no matter what i deem

i am awareness...i am this moment now
instead of arguing with what is...take a simple bow

it's easier to expand than it is to contract
it takes effort for the ego to falsify a fact

why perpetuate a struggle? why resist the flow?
everything is well when you relax into "i don't know"

tension is created when you push your mind away
all conflict disappears when you learn to say "okay"

the hole is dug deeper the harder you try to get out
unlearning is what awakening is actually about

how do u do it what is your secret

or maybe all those herbs they take

whatever it is i dont think mom and dad

are ever going to kick the bucket

at least not in this century

Am I not among the early risers
and the long-distance walkers?

Have I not stood, amazed, as I consider
the perfection of the morning star
above the peaks of the houses, and the crowns of the trees
blue in the first light?
Do I not see how the trees tremble, as though
sheets of water flowed over them
though it is only wind, that common thing
free to everyone, and everything?

Have I not thought, for years, what it would be
worthy to do, and then gone off, barefoot and with a silver pail,
to gather blueberries,
thus coming, as I think, upon a right answer?

What will ambition do for me that the fox, appearing suddenly
at the top of the field,
her eyes sharp and confident as she stared into mine,
has not already done?

What countries, what visitations,
what pomp
would satisfy me as thoroughly as Blackwater Woods
on a sun-filled morning, or, equally, in the rain?

Here is an amazement -- once I was twenty years old and in
every motion of my body there was a delicious ease,
and in every motion of the green earth there was
a hint of paradise,
and now I am sixty years old, and it is the same.

Above the modest house and the palace -- the same darkness.
Above the evil man and the just, the same stars.
Above the child who will recover and the child who will
not recover, the same energies roll forward,
from one tragedy to the next and from one foolishness to the next.
