I think yes and no.

When we come in to incarnation, there is something like a road-map or blueprint which we have imprinted in our consciousness. This isn't a static blueprint, it is changeable, but we do come in with some orientation. That being said, because of the nature of probabilities and possibilities, every "outcome" is existent. So, what it really comes down to is the EXPERIENCE.

It might be thought that everything has been "planned", and in a way it has, but really it's more that the fundamental plan of the universe is so flexible that absolutely any life path can be accomodated within it.
