There's only any extra baggage on it if you correlate it with such. People are still going to use the Like button and the Like button will still imply that a post was appreciated. The intention of the person pressing that button is known only to the button presser, as to why they pressed the button.
I was about to ask if the Like button created any divisions or begot disharmony any time recently but then realized such a question might be rhetorical considering the past few posts in this thread are full of speculation and debating on... a Like button. Only in 2012, on Earth, does a Like button become interpreted to be a "Meh" button, lol.
