I don't see an issue with self empowerment. I think it's something good people should be doing.. If we consider it a bad quality, then only the bad people will empower themselves..

What I do that seems self empowering is directly used in teaching others, which then leads to learning for me.

I have no fears for myself. Your descriptions of shield use is for those that fear for themself. I am an instrument, and as an instrument I must remain clean. I have no need of integrating dark entities or energies. You seem to be confusing empowerment to aid others with empowerment to aid the self.
