That is a very good question and a skill that I would love to possess too...
They say meditation helps, but I am usually too scatter-brained for that as well.
All I can say is, sometimes when I realize I am losing myself in clouds of thoughts during the day, I try to consciously "be" in that moment again, and concentrate on my breath.
