Physical exercise is great as well Wander. Helps take your mind of all the complications and distortions and helps you connect with the now. Personally I feel extremely close to my true self when exercising or taking part in thrill seeking activities. No better way to feel connection other then meditation imo. Your mind clears and you simply are. I experienced a body high yet to be matched by any meditation while sky diving a few months ago.
I would go crazy without physical stimulation. Helps you go with the flow. No point in fighting against the current might as well jump into the river and see where it takes you.
