"They're" talking about LSD, specific information. This then gives the reader reason to believe that LSD caused the confusion, when in reality, it is the negative influence. And pay particular attention to the latter sentence. Ra exists where there is unification of positive/negative. They encompass both. The negative aspect of themselves subtly wishes to balance the entire process, to make sure that mystery is conveyed into the material itself, that is, a sense of unknowing.

It is up to the seeker to know, to read the words correctly and discover the truth.
