Respectfully, Monkey, you are mistaken on this. While that may be true in many cases, research shows that many overweight people actually eat less than thin people. There are multiple reasons for being overweight. Many overweight people have slower metabolisms, so even when eating under 1000 calories per day (of healthy foods) they still can't lose the weight. Mucus-producing foods (like cheese/dairy & flour) are the culprits in some cases; food allergies are the culprit in others, and acidity in others. Not to mention stress which causes excess cortisol (especially in women) which tends to cause abdominal fat. Even insomnia and calcium/magnesium deficiencies are linked to excess weight!
Whatever. Somehow these don't apply to famines
