It's not that I'm afraid in any way. I'm just not sure whether the skull ceremonies are really an STO act or just disguised as one. The symbolism (=evoking an archetype) can't be explained away. If they are to signify only death as a process of transcendence another object might have been more appropriate; say the head of a phoenix.
