Some years ago, during a previous awakening cycle, I pretty much devoured all of the works by Alice Bailey. They were a set of blue books put out by Lucis Publishing and all contained a bookmark with the Great Invocation on it.

At one point I decided to begin a daily practice of using the invocation, but it didn't last long. Something just didn't seem right to me about it... like there was some hidden agenda behind it. In particular, I didn't like the idea of invoking hidden "Masters" and asking to take their will as my own. So I discarded it.

That's a common response to Alice Bailey's books.
