That discomfort is a type of "catalyst" - that "which initiates the recognition of self, by self". But many are not seeking comfort in this regard, they are seeking a level of discomfort they're willing to tolerate. The tolerance for discomfort must increase with increased distraction away from or a devaluation of that recognition process.
