That's true. Those living in apartments obviously can't grow their own food, other than sprouts.

I agree about families but I can't think of an instance in which an entire community would be unable to grow food, except in third world countries suffering from extreme drought with no running water, or in extremely cold regions. Where there is soil, water and sunlight, it can be done.
I was thinking mostly of American homes with green lawns...wasted space essentially.
