The topic of discussion is truly interesting.
Once I was in a group meeting of young people at one Baptist church. The guy who was the leader asked us before the beginning of the lesson to just close our eyes and sit for a while in silence, thinking about whatever came to our mind. He used to do it every time, which looked like meditation. I think that spiritual practices in Western and Eastern traditions are compatible. There’s nothing bad in trying to take the best from both of them. Some conservative Christians hate all the eastern teachings and call them paganism, but as far as I can see, some Buddhists are more Christian than some Christians. I believe the ultimate law promoted by Jesus was unconditional love towards the Creator and the other living things. This does look similar to the eastern teachings to me.
