I wouldn't call him very important figure as I wouldn't call any single entity here important. He had his quest, being a wanderer, and his distortions, being an entity of 3D nature on Earth. Was he more important than you or me? Did he achieve more than you or me? More of what?

The point of this little tirade was to raise awareness upon the fact that focusing on single entities or their past or present workings, or their apparent importance or unimportance is quite fruitless. No working cannot exceed in importance of the working of oneself. Realizing that, only then wisdom may be extracted from external workings and incarnations.
