I think Blatzer was referring just to meditation, not otherwise.
This reminded me of a story that isn't TOO boring. A no-longer young woman talked about getting some training in psychic self protection. The teacher said to picture yourself being warmly protected while held in a big wing of white feathers. Another lady friend was in this class and, for some reason, she always saw the feathers as pink.
One day this lady was in a downtown environment that made her nervous, especially when she had to walk through a group of guys who looked like they could be trouble. So she made sure that her feathers were there and walked on. As she passed, a guy who was either on drugs then or had been a big user or maybe just psychotic, approached her kind of leeringly and said something like, "Hey baby, let's do it!"
She just said, "God bless you," and kept going. He then felt shame and apologized to her for his behavior. She turned back to acknowledge his apology, and he said, "And what's with the pink feathers?"
