Geeks are a different breed and are no association to Nerds. It would be appreciated. I have been a Nerd since the invention of the PC.
Huh? As far as i know, the term 'nerd' predates pc and was used as a derogatory nickname for those who were bookish and studious. Whereas geek has come to prominence in mid 2000s after proliferation of Internet as it became mainstream, from its original roots in which it meant people who get immersed in technological stuff.
I remember the time when people were afraid of being called 'geeks' in early 2000s for fault of being seen as too much into technology. Then Facebook and social media came, computers and internet became a daily thing, and suddenly the word 'geek' became desirable. A lot of people who would avoid the word started calling themselves geeks.

That article does not seem so accurate and seems to be based on author's personal opinions.
