These forums are a great place to express this of yourself, and we are evolved() enough not to thrust solutions at you.
I only offer some of what I heard a few times already, to like seekers. Instead of thinking of new acquaintances as pieces of fruit, to be examined for spots and then put back, think of each one as a contributor to your knowledge base. Have a long conversation or two with each, being a good listener and not declaring yourself as a seeker, but just somebody who likes to be helpful.
After each of these conversations, note your first impression and compare it with the one you take afterward. Probably most times you will realize that you picked up some good unintended "advice," though they probably didn't realize they were sharing any. You might even find a truly hidden treasure.
Very best of luck to you from
