So in the last couple of days I've been thinking further on the subject and I came up with the following idea.
I'm basing this on the tarot cards from 15-19.
The "movement of the spirit" is a journey from darkness to light, in the literal sense. Card 15 represents complete darkness, and until card 19 we can see a gradual increase in the depiction of the amount of light available on each card. On 16, we see the sudden lightning which is new and might also be a bit unpleasant to a soul not used to the light, but it's a start. On card 17, we can see a small, yet steady stream of light in the form of a Star. On 18, we see a cyclical increase/decrease in the amount of light available from the Moon, which is already much bigger than the star, but because of this cyclical nature, very hard to reliably count on. And finally, on card 19, we can see the Sun, with all it's warmth and light. Not sure what Card 20 and 21 could mean in this context, but at least now I have an idea about this type of movement, I hope this line of thought helps some of you too.
(I don't know what this light could be either, or how one could measure where one currently stands. )
