Yes. Both animals and plants. The way I have mostly experienced it is that they are always communicating with us, and when we are open to it we receive their communications. It does go the other way as well, from my experience, that animals will respond to our communications. I am talking about wild animals. I think it's obvious that pets will develop deep communication with their human friends.
Plants: I will often get a feeling, which crops up at random times, that a plant (in my house) needs watering. I think I am responding to plant's communication.
Animals. One example is a special deer—whom I loved and knew since she was a spotted fawn—who showed up one day in my back yard. The deer generally move about with the herd or in small groups. Sometimes they show up alone. On this particular day, I was freaking out because I had a looming deadline on a difficult illustration job which I was stuck on, and I was pacing through the house trying to get myself centered. I kept thinking that if only the deer showed up I would calm down. I looked out into the backyard, and there was Sweetie, by herself. My heart almost exploded with gratitude. I tried to feed her an apple, but she wasn't hungry. I hadn't seen any deer in months, and they always come for food. So she showed up right when I needed her. She hung out in the yard for about 20 minutes and left. I didn't see the deer again for another month at least.
I know Sweetie showed up because I needed her. I have no idea how this happened but it did. Sadly, she was hit by a car a couple of years ago.
