What made me much happier is realizing negative people are a complete waste of my time because they just make negative things happen to people around them, and negative things happen to them as well. A lot of the time if you hang out with people who are like that, and try to be nice to them to set a better example it will usually kind wind up with them trying to take advantage of your generosity or impose their will on you because they'll consider you a vulnerable pacifist that is weak. It's just better to avoid those kinds of people.
It's your choice if you want to make friends with people who share your values and work towards something together or just feel endlessly upset over the way the things look on the surface. ]
