I think your reading too much into what I meant by male and female. As I was viewing it a woman has both a masculine and feminine nature and no one gender is limited to a specific initiation. I meant that the hero's journey is a 'journey' and this type of active engagement and conquest in the world in more typical of the masculilne archetypes than the more passive receptive nature of the feminine.
I think what your saying is from tarot the fool is not really a gender specific archetype and that you strongly associate the heros journey with tarot and this archetype. I was more looking at the hero's journey as it is portrayed in Hollywood movies, take the matrix as an example, the leads are mostly men and the story involves masculine things like fighting, exploring, conquering. Female lead movies are mostly about relationships. This is of course a massive generalisation. The male lead chooses his polarity by actively pursuing a just cause and fixing the injustices in the world. The woman lead chooses her polarity by discovering love and wisdom through relationships.
I was just mentioning it as an intersting thoughtpiece that I watched, if it doesn't fit your personal tarot view then discard it....
Take the matrix as previously mentioned.
Trinity didn’t get the spotlight but do you think her journey was any less adventure and fighting and growing through it all till she was “the hero”. Both started in the pods, were awakend and she literally gave her life to save Neo, “the one” so without her being a hero there would be no “the one” he did the same. We just rarely tell the female storey.
Pop culture will have you believe women only think of relationships but that is the program again and we wanderers need to think deeper.
Right now I’m watching mad max.
It’s main hero is Max he’s a great character but any of the characters are also on hero’s journey.
Furiosa for sure, the little bald headed dude that breaks away inadvertently from his warm mongering boss, amazing hero’s journey as his character develops. Even some of the “princesses” each of them develop in a different way, the old bad ass many mothers if their storey of survival in the desert in post apocalyptic conditions were told again their stories would be amazing hero’s journeys.
And no I’m not personally comparing the hero’s journey to the fools in tarot. That’s actually what it is.
The person who coined the term noted it runs in all great stories through time. It’s the same storey. The tarot explained it first, modern culture calls it the hero’s journey, but it’s the same initiation storey.
It’s neither male or female, it’s transformation.
Regardless you and others may feel I am taking this too seriously but honestly we need to as wanderers who can see beyond the program stop perpetuatinv ideas that women are a side romance storey. an off shoot with the men the real exciting storey. We are the lead storey too. Just no one through resent history has really been portraying our stories.
I know I’m not wording that well enough but it’s really a concept I shouldn’t have to explain.
I know you didn’t mean any harm, just something you found interesting however if no one mentions it’s minimizing to imply the hero’s journey is for men, when it’s every humans path then how could you as a man know. I said it.
Anyways I have done these discussions enough over the years(well initiated) to no longer be a “fool” and think people will hear what they do not want to.
No offence taken from this thread or intended. Just an attempt to communicate and maybe not a very productive use of my time.
I will keep my opinions on this to myself because obviously I’m not getting them across appropriately anyways.
