They were very much taking it easy by the time Don committed suicide. The last few sessions of the material took place months between each other. Also, Ra can't interact with humans by offering unsolicited advise in the same way that we can do with each other. To offer unsolicited advice, even if it's good advice, is seen as a violation of free will, because of the fact that Ra are entities from somewhere else, with knowledge that we don't have. They can only give their knowledge when a specific request has been made (and even when such a request is made, they can't always answer).
I agree. Due to the law of free will (law of confusion) Ra had to allow the STS beings to mislead and attack.
