Yes you are taking about the relative polarity of the Paths. Indeed, STS serves others (unintentionally of course) by serving themselves. They offer catalyst to the otherself who may then use it for polarization on either path. He may desire that power for himself or he may realize his dedication to love and compassion. So in terms of relative polarity, the STS entity is positive in relation to that which he seeks to control. Positive as in he is acting with self serving motives and intentions and actions. The “other” here is receiving that catalyst, therefore he is negative in relation to the STS entity. In other words, receptive.

Another way to look at polarity is that STS calls itself to service (positive/dynamic) whereas the STO entity awaits the calling (negative/receptive).

For the STO entity he serves others as the means of his evolution. So he serves himself by serving others.
