On games where you could make your own choices and tailor the story based on how you play (such as the walking dead), I generally picked the service-to-others options, such as not stealing from the station wagon. I often fell out with play partners when playing that, wondering why we would NOT make a service to others choice when the whole world had gone to s***. Often pointing out if our lives are near their end, lets leave on a note of trying to help someone.
I played fallout 3, and I often tried to be kind to others as much as possible to gain karma. The game rewards you at the end of that by awarding you a character that you can only play with if your karma is positive. Karma in fallout 3 is gained by doing good deeds and giving your limited resources, but is lost by stealing from others, harming people needlessly, etc.
