Perhaps check out one of the board game shops here .You can call or just visit them the store, they usually have postings about rpg pen and paper groups. You can also spend a long time leafing through and reading the rpg/Werewolf books, they are actually pretty detailed and in depth.
And also these shops often have board game nights open to strangers that also may be something else to look into if you like things like that (board games are nothing like Monopoly btw).
I usually go to a few boardgame nights a year - done so in a variety of places - NC, AZ, NM - and always the atmosphere is pretty welcoming to new players, and I've definitely made some friends that way.
