Of course there's quite a behavioural distance between Jake Blues's merely, um... cavalier approach to a certain expediency,
let us say, in intimate bonding -- and full-blown STS psychopathy. But if a relatively benign being like this character portrays 
(remember, he & his brother Elwood, though a bit shifty around the edges, are in the midst being on a mission from God -- 


-- so the conventional niceties may not necessarily apply) is capable of playing someone's heart-strings like a hillbilly-fiddle
in the name of a good cause, just imagine what someone fully-invested in remorseless exploitation is apt to accomplish in
the name of something Other...





The unexpected and unmentioned (and in fact, all but unmentionable, what with today's STS-psychopolitically-
seeded received-pseudo-wisdom with all its terroristic/destabilizatory puritanical triggerings) is that at a deep level of the 
psyche one chooses  as "victim" to symbiotize with one's "persecutor" for the evolutionary lulz of it all -- of course each polarity 
is allowed to do its best/worst with this power-dominance challenge, all being fair in love & war, as they say. The Negatives
go in for psychological warfare, in which the naively-trusting good-natured STO dupe is demoralized before any physical 
contact by the mere lack of access to the full spectrum of information about his actual options, and instead is cunningly
forced to (unwittingly) choose among an array of very lame responses. If he doesn't know that opting-out is even a thing, he will 
now be reduced to fighting a defensive battle on the adversary's chosen ground & timetable. STS's only weapon is Fear. Fear
and Ignorance -- STS's two weapons are Fear and Ignorance, and an almost fanatical devotion to Brute Force -- three weapons, 
the three weapons of STS are -- and there's Surprise, too -- the four weapons of -- uh, amongst their weaponry are such diverse
elements as -- oh wait, I'll come again.
