In addition to all that you suggested, for deeper trauma (childhood trauma, prolonged trauma, complex trauma...), proper trauma therapy is also necessary to work through and process the trauma, to integrate dissociated parts into the 'daylight mind', as Stranger has to beautifully laid out in another thread. As you have hinted at as well, self-compassion and, the professional form, compassion-focused therapy, are an extremely helpful tool on that way.
