Pins and needles and cramping from meditation - Crazy intense

I'm typing this with 1 hand cuz my left hand is still locked up. When I mediate on fear in my chest, I breathe really deep breathes and this extreme pins and needles which starts in the chest soon covers the whole upper body. Its so intense, my hands start cramping up, my hands open up really wide and I get a lot of pain in the wrists and fingers. Its called tetany, its pretty common in holotropic breathing, it looks like this:

I see in my minds eye an image of my whole body contorting and some pretty weird stuff as it intensifies. Does anyone else experience this? Does anyone know what it means energetically?
