I will preface by saying I think all things are possible.
A person I know showed me a video from his martial arts class. Because I know this person, I know he wasn't making it up or staging it, etc. His sifu, who was a tai chi master, was throwing each student who approached him away with his chi.
My opinion was that it might have involved belief on the parts of both the teacher and student—an agreement of its possibility. I'm not sure it would work (as well) on a person who did not believe it was possible, and who was not a part of the very tight community that comprises a martial arts class.
The human collective consciousness and its paradigms gets in the way of tapping into the realms of energy because we can't see it with our 3D eyes. I think in the example above, their shared belief in the power of chi allowed them to tap into it and not block it.
