Theme: Astrology is a valid archetypal system. Ra (if it's of any consideration) acknowledges this themselves.
Much like the archetypes of the tarot, all these things exist as potentials and possibilities within the mind. It's there that we can acknowledge and value the various energies and patterned configurations that exist.
But much like we chose either a male body or a female body as the anchor for our Experience, which slants things greatly; our astrological charts are also skewed towards certain types of influences and inputs; to give us a certain focus on Experience; a focus that is deemed appropriate relative to the life goals and purpose of that Incarnation. And so each of our Charts is replete with focal energy points.
A Capricorn energy (in one House) has a vastly different effect than an Aries (in that same House).
If we look at the most significant effects (relative to a layman or layperson), the combination of the Sun Sign (day/conscious) and the Moon Sign (night/unconscious) can offer significant insight into what 'drives' that person. Of course, the charts themselves are multifaceted creations; so we by no means should overlook the abundance of Influences in Consciousness.
But here, we can at least acknowledge the effects of the Cancer Archetype. In terms of the Sun Sign, these would be people born between Jun 22 and Jul 22. Carla Rueckert being one of these. I also believe that one of our regular Meditation members is also of this Sign
But regardless, I'm sure you know those who have this Sun Sign. And that this Archetype (that of Cancer) also may be in your own chart, somewhere else (maybe as a Moon Sign, or Ascendant, or what-not). But even if not, one can value this Quality; maybe the more-so, if it's not in your personal chart.
Just for some basic background info on the Cancer Archetype.

Cancer is the archetype of protection, healing, nourishing, and the establishment of roots. Through sensitive attunement to emotion, imagination, and feeling Cancer sends healing energy to the world. Cancer symbolizes the mother who provides for the needs of others and who holds families together. Cancer’s outward mode of expression allows it to heal and nurture endlessly.
People who have planets in Cancer gain that special ability that mother’s have of foresight, so easily impresses by feelings and emotional contours. They just know when people are in pain or suffering even when miles apart. Of the three water element signs Cancer is the activator and creator of imagination and the master at expressing emotion. They might be more traditional, but they are devoted deeply to those who they love and in the enlightened person, to all life.
This archetype is about anchoring the heart in the living intuitive flow of love (LIFE) and opening the heart to the feeling dimension of human experience. When this happens, the heart is soothed and the soul is alive as people are empowered to accept and forgive each other. Cancer teaches that at the center of being is a temple of holy silence where you can commune with divinity. Find it and you will discover compassion for all living beings.
Cancer and the Moon symbolize the establishment of a physical home as well as the spiritual hearth of our souls that I like to call the Well of Being. The 4th house or Nadir is the field of life experience that relates to this inner well that contains the underground river of ancestral memory. It links us to the traditions that have been handed down. Cancer governs emotional well being and healing.
Our homes and families offer us a forgiving source of protection and nourishment. The home is a place that feeds the soul with hour upon hour of quiet reflection. It infuses us with a feeling of safety and emotional security. When we leave it, a psychic cord always connects us back to the place where we dream, and eat, and love. Homes contain chambers like the shell of a crab that we can live in and share life with others, inviting them to sit at our hearths and tables. Empathic Cancer inspires you to nurture, protect, heal, and open the heart in the field of life experience that it shines into in your chart.

Quote:The Cancer Archetype
Character Type in Astrology
Cancer sign (glyph).Cancer is the Zodiac sign of the benefactor, who cares for others even at great personal cost, devoting his or her life to the well-being of those closest, particularly the family. It's the Archetype of the Mother, who nurtures and protects the ones in her care.
The painting above was made in 1663 by Elisabetta Sirani (1638-1665), who is one of the few women recorded in art history previous to the 19th century. The motif is a classic: Mother Mary and the infant Jesus. The Messiah to be in the loving care of his earthly mother. In Christian culture through the many centuries, this is the archetypical image of the mother.
Without the motherly womb and her years of nurturing, none of us would be.
Considering the many symbols of rich and deep meaning, there's no wonder this motif has been such a popular one. Below is another example, a painting by the most famous artists of them all: Leonardo da Vinci. This time the mother is doubled: also Mary's own mother St. Anne participates, by which the continuous chain of being is pointed out.
Mankind emerges from the wombs of all those generations of mothers, the cycle of reproduction since the dawn of our species.
