This is what Ra says re: rubies and diamonds:

I personally feel more resonance with natural than synthetic, just for the fact that a natural mineral has been growing/forming for millions of years. I agree in that I'm sure there is analogue as far as the crystalline structure goes, but not as far as the personality/wisdom of the stone.
